Veolia ZW1500 Discontinuation Notice & Replacement Model (ZW1500-X) Specification
Veolia ZW1500 Discontinuation Notice & Replacement Model (ZW1500-X) Specification
As a global leader in water treatment solutions,
Veolia is committed to continuous technological innovation and product
optimization to better meet the evolving needs of customers and environmental
challenges. This official document serves to notify all valued customers,
partners and stakeholders that the ZeeWeed 1500 series model ZW1500 has been
officially discontinued. The exclusive replacement model, ZW1500-X, inherits the
core advantages of the ZW1500 while integrating upgraded technologies and
optimized performance, ensuring seamless transition and enhanced operational
value for all applications previously served by the ZW1500.
1. Discontinuation
Announcement of ZW1500
After careful evaluation and technological
iteration, Veolia has made the strategic decision to discontinue the production
of the ZW1500 ultrafiltration membrane module, effective immediately. This
decision is driven by our commitment to providing more efficient, reliable and
cost-effective water treatment solutions, as well as the continuous advancement
of ultrafiltration membrane technology.
Key notes on the ZW1500 discontinuation:
•
Production
of ZW1500 has been officially ceased; no new orders for ZW1500 will be
accepted.
•
Veolia
will continue to provide after-sales support, including maintenance services,
replacement parts (while supplies last) and technical consultation for existing
ZW1500 installations, to ensure the normal operation of customer systems.
•
For
all future projects and replacement needs previously suited for ZW1500, the
ZW1500-X is designated as the exclusive, direct replacement model, ensuring
full compatibility and superior performance.
2. Overview of
Replacement Model: ZW1500-X
The ZW1500-X is specially developed by Veolia as
the direct replacement for the discontinued ZW1500. Based on Veolia's
proprietary PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) hollow fiber technology, the
ZW1500-X maintains the same core application scope and installation compatibility
as the ZW1500, while incorporating upgraded materials, structural optimization
and enhanced operational efficiency. It is a pressurized ultrafiltration (UF)
membrane module designed for outside-in filtration, widely applicable to
drinking water treatment, tertiary filtration, and RO pretreatment for brackish
water and seawater, delivering superior effluent quality that meets or exceeds
global regulatory requirements.
Like the ZW1500, the ZW1500-X adopts an outside-in
filtration mode, which ensures uniform flow distribution and high solids
tolerance, reducing pretreatment requirements – a key advantage inherited from
the original model. Additionally, it retains the same nominal pore diameter of
0.02 µm, ensuring optimal removal of particulates, bacteria, and viruses,
consistent with the reliable performance customers have come to expect from
Veolia's ZeeWeed series.
3. Key Advantages
of ZW1500-X Over Discontinued ZW1500
As the upgraded replacement, the ZW1500-X not only
achieves full compatibility with the ZW1500 but also offers significant
performance improvements, bringing greater operational value to customers. The
detailed comparisons and advantages are as follows:
|
Specification Category |
Discontinued Model (ZW1500) |
Replacement Model (ZW1500-X) |
Key Advantages of ZW1500-X |
|
Membrane Material |
Standard PVDF hollow fiber membrane, providing
reliable mechanical strength and chemical resistance. |
Upgraded composite PVDF hollow fiber membrane,
with tensile strength increased to 1.8 times that of the ZW1500. It features
enhanced hydrophilicity and fouling resistance, ensuring stable flux
retention (over 92% within a 3-year operation cycle). |
Stronger mechanical performance, better
anti-fouling ability, and longer stable operation cycle, reducing maintenance
frequency. |
|
Membrane Fiber Dimensions |
Nominal fiber diameter: OD 1.2 mm, ID 0.66 mm. |
Optimized nominal fiber diameter: OD 1.1 mm, ID
0.66 mm. The refined design improves flow distribution and reduces energy
consumption during operation. |
More uniform flow distribution, lower energy
consumption, and improved operational efficiency. |
|
Weight Specifications |
Max shipping weight (packaged): 37 kg (80 lb);
Lifting weight: 30-46 kg (65-100 lb) (varies with solids accumulation). |
Max shipping weight (packaged): 32 kg (70 lb);
Lifting weight: 30-36 kg (65-80 lb) (varies with solids accumulation). |
Lighter design, simplifying transportation,
handling and on-site installation, reducing labor costs. |
|
Operational Energy Efficiency |
Operates with stable transmembrane pressure (TMP)
range of 0-276 kPa (0-40 psi), with standard energy consumption for
operation. |
Optimized flow channel design (via computational
fluid dynamics simulation) controls TMP within 0.3 bar, significantly
reducing system energy consumption. Equipped with "pulse air-water
backwash" technology, reducing backwash water consumption by 45%
compared to the ZW1500. |
Lower energy and water consumption, reducing
long-term operational costs and promoting environmental sustainability. |
|
Intelligent Compatibility |
Compatible with basic monitoring systems,
requiring manual adjustment for cleaning cycles and operation parameters. |
Fully compatible with Veolia’s patented
AquaVision 3.0 monitoring system. This AI-enabled platform with machine
learning algorithms can real-time predict membrane fouling trends and provide
accurate chemical cleaning cycle recommendations, extending membrane service
life by approximately 30%. |
Intelligent operation and monitoring, reducing
manual intervention, extending membrane service life, and improving system
stability. |
|
Application Adaptability |
Suitable for conventional water quality
conditions, including general drinking water treatment, tertiary filtration,
and standard RO pretreatment. It has high solids tolerance and can handle
moderate turbidity spikes. |
Ideal for complex and harsh water quality
conditions (e.g., high-turbidity raw water, drought-prone areas). It excels
in municipal sewage reuse, high-demand RO pretreatment, and scenarios
requiring long-term stable operation with minimal maintenance. |
Wider adaptability to complex water quality,
expanding application scenarios and ensuring stable performance in harsh
environments. |
4. Compatibility
& Transition Guidelines
To ensure a seamless transition from the
discontinued ZW1500 to the replacement ZW1500-X, Veolia has optimized the
ZW1500-X to maintain full compatibility with the ZW1500 in terms of
installation dimensions, connection standards and operational parameters. The
key compatibility points and transition guidelines are as follows:
•
Installation
Compatibility: The ZW1500-X maintains the same module dimensions and connection
standards as the ZW1500 – Height 1919 mm (75.6 in), Diameter 180 mm (7”), Feed
& Permeate 2” (DN 50) Victaulic, Reject 1½” (DN 40) Victaulic. It can be
directly installed on existing ZW1500 module racks without any modifications to
the system structure, ensuring quick and easy replacement.
•
Operational
Compatibility: The ZW1500-X shares the same operating parameter ranges as the
ZW1500, including flow range (45-180 m³/day / 8-33 gpm), max shell inlet
pressure (379 kPa / 55 psi), max temperature (40 °C / 104 °F), operating pH
(5.0-10.0), and cleaning specifications. Existing control systems can be
directly used without parameter adjustments.
•
Transition
Recommendations: For customers using the ZW1500, we recommend planning
replacement with ZW1500-X during routine maintenance or system upgrades to
minimize operational disruption. Veolia's technical support team is available
to provide on-site guidance, installation assistance and training to ensure a
smooth transition.
